Community Watch

On March 20, 2019, the Largo Police Department executed a narcotic search warrant on Capistrano Court. The search resulted in the arrest of the resident on 15 felony charges, including possession of controlled substances with intent to sell, operating a drug house, and resisting arrest. The resident remains in jail, awaiting trial.

The successful outcome was the result of a united effort between Largo Police officers and detectives, and residents of Belle Oak Villas. In the months leading up to the arrest, Largo patrol officers quickly responded to numerous calls (approx. 35 from 1/1 to 3/20 alone) from residents related to drugs, suspicious activity, and disturbances, and made narcotic arrests on people leaving the residence as well.

Criminal activity in Belle Oak Villas will not be tolerated!. We have a Neighborhood Watch Committee made up of residents who have volunteered to be block captains for most of our streets. But each of us has to do our part. Get to know your neighbors, be observant. Learn what’s normal, and report it when you see something that isn’t. The number for the Largo Police Department is (727) 587-6730. If in doubt, contact your Neighborhood Watch block captain if your street has one. Together we can keep our neighborhood a safe, clean place to live and play!

GARDEN CLUB At our Annual Meeting, a few residents suggested creating a Garden Club. If you have interest in helping, please send an email with your name and phone number and it will be passed onto Regina, who is heading up the club.

POOLS AND PORCH LIGHTS Please leave your porch lights on in the evenings. This was a suggestion from the Largo Police Department. It does act as a deterrent. Duke Energy has changed out light bulbs to LED lights which makes our streets brighter. LED lights were installed at the pools which also makes that area brighter. Some folks have been using the pool at night and hopefully that will deter them from usage. The pools close at dusk.

INSPECTIONS Inspections of all units have been completed. If you received a notice to have work done, please comply. You will NOT receive another notice. If work is not done and you don’t notify the Board for an extension, you will be fined. Please see that work is done in a timely manner. Thank you.

DO NOT FEED WILDLIFE We have had a lot of complaints about everyone feeding the wildlife whatever they want. Please do not feed the ducks and birds. Seagulls come in flocks and then fly over the houses leaving messes on cars and skylights.

RATS We have had several complaints about rats in attics and also dumpsters. Please be sure you close the dumpster after you use it. If you have a fruit tree planted, please be sure that you pick up all the fallen fruit and not let it rot on the ground. This is another reason birds and ducks shouldn’t be feed. Anything they don’t eat the rats will.

NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH By now you should have been contacted by a neighbor on your street to introduce themselves as the Watch Captain of your street Hopefully, you provided the needed information to them. We have not had a volunteer for El Camino East or Rodeo; if you would like to help out please let us know.

IRRIGATION/SPRINKERS The front half of our property has not had any sprinklers working in a month or so. There have been problems with the pump. A new pump is being installed and the sprinklers should be up and working within the next few weeks. Starting July 1st the sprinklers in your front yard will no longer be serviced. If you need any service, at this time, please email us with information such as what is wrong and where sprinkler is located. If you have problems with your front sprinklers, in the future, you will be responsible for the repair.

PLEASE PARK IN YOUR NUMBERED SPOT ONLY. Parking has been a problem on some streets. This is a reminder that each person has ONE numbered parking spot. Please park your car or motorcycle, etc. in YOUR numbered spot. All unnumbered spots are available for anyone to use. If you continue to park in an unnumbered spot close to your villa, that spot will be changed to a numbered spot and your former numbered spot will no longer be available.

Please remember to lock your car(s). Don’t make it easy for someone to break into it.

Also, Please remember to NOT PARK on the grassy areas. Please park only in your numbered spot or an available unnumbered spot and make sure that your guests or workers park in an available parking spot and not on the grassy areas. There are sprinkler heads throughout those areas and can be broken if a car drives over them.

SOLICITORS We have had a few shady people in Belle Oak soliciting for Frontier. Please do not answer your door if you do not know who is knocking. We have signs posted and also have a NO TRESPASSING signs at the Largo Police Dept. Please be alert and call the police if you see something.
