Coronavirus

Belle Oaks is a small community but host to over 500 people. Let’s keep each other safe by using common sense.

1. Should any resident be advised to ‘self isolate’ by medical authorities PLEASE advise the H.O.A of your situation.
2. People living on their own, or without family/friends support should let us know if you have medical needs and we can do our best to offer help with collection of prescriptions for example.
3. If you find yourself unable to (safely) take your trash to the dumpster as usual please let us know. We can arrange for someone to collect bagged trash from outside your unit.
4. We would hope, should the need arise, residence will do all they can to assist people who may find themselves secluded and without some basic supplies.
5. There is little point us repeating advise that is being given by every media outlet and web site but a common area touched by everyone are the dumpsters and re-cycle bins. You may want to consider gloves or at least covering your hand with (say) a grocery bag while opening these containers.

UPDATE 1/19/21

We hope everyone is staying safe and following CDC guidelines:
-Wear a mask
-Observe Social Distancing
-Wash hands often
etc
Do the right thing for everyone!!!

  5. REST ROOMS will be open but please keep rest room clean. We do not have staff to regularly clean the pool area and rest room, you are responsible for your own safety while at the pool.

suspend the voting rights and right to use of the Recreational Facilities of a member during any period in which such member shall be in default in the payment of any assessment levied by the Association.

UPDATE 5/1/20
As we have received complaints & abuse from people asking why the pools have not been opened we would like to make it clear we would like nothing better than to open the pools for everyone to enjoy….BUT….. It is a decision forced on us by The Health Dept.

The rules and guide lines read as follows:
Ensure proper cleaning/distancing measures are in place
a. Clean and disinfect all hard surfaces of pool furniture, gate latches, handrails, and any other surface subject to patron contact prior to opening the pool each day and at regular intervals while the pool is open.
b. Clean and disinfect restrooms prior to opening and at regular intervals while the pool is open.

We do NOT have staff to complete the steps required everyday.

UPDATE 4/29/20
Pinellas County commissioners voted April 28 to reopen public pools, beaches and playgrounds at childcare facilities. Social distancing will be required.
Public pools will reopen at 6 a.m. Thursday, April 30, as well playgrounds and equipment at childcare facilities. Beaches will reopen at 7 a.m. Monday, May 4.
Recommendations for reopening swimming pools at hotels, motels, lodging establishment, condominiums, commercial establishments and homeowner’s associations included a restriction to operate at 50% of the pool’s maximum bathing load….
“Pool owners and operators will need to take a very active approach in ensuring proper cleaning and regular sanitation of pool areas and equipment using CDC guidelines, including: pool decks, furniture, railings, safety devices and other pool equipment to minimize exposure,”

Unfortunately, we do not have ‘Pool Staff’ who can monitor the pool area to ensure guidelines are adhered to nor conduct regular cleaning and sanitation of the pool areas.
For this reason The Board will have to KEEP BOTH POOLS CLOSED until further notice.

UPDATE 4/2/20
Details of Executive Order

UPDATE 4/1/20
Executive ‘Stay At Home’ order directing all Floridians to limit movements and personal interactions outside the home to only those necessary and essential activities will go into affect at midnight.

ANNUAL MEETING
Postponed until further notice.

SWIMMING POOLS
Both swimming pools are now CLOSED following advise from the Health Department.

TIP – Although it is difficult to get any kind of gloves at the moment, dog ‘poop bags’ are readily available in pet stores/grocery stores and numerous sites (ebay $10 for 20 rolls/400 bags) and are a cheap effective way of covering your hands.

Hurricane Dorian

As you should already be aware Hurricane Dorian is making it’s way towards Florida. As always, where it makes landfall is unpredictable but indications are it will make landfall on the east coast and move across Florida. How close it comes to us is, as yet, unknown.

We would be grateful if ALL OWNERS can prepare for the high probability of strong winds. Please make sure all items which could be blown around are removed from the front and back area of your Villas. Patio furniture, tables, plant pots etc can become a danger if they start to blow around the neighborhood. It is better to prepare NOW than spend next week trying to find your patio chairs.

If you need assistance with your own items or know of neighbors who are away and may have loose items in their yard please contact us and we will try to organize some help.

A very good source for reliable updates can be found at: https://www.abcactionnews.com/hurricane

And: Denis Philips FaceBook (ABC Action News Weather Expert)

Update Weds 5pm: – The path has shifted slightly south at landfall on the east coast of Florida for early Monday.
Update Thurs 5am: – Some models showing a more southern entry to Florida on Monday, taking a couple of days to move across the State. Strength of wind in Bay Area still unpredictable.
Update Fri:The Bay Area less concerned now about hurricane force winds. Our biggest issue, will be heavy rains and flooding. we could see tropical storm force winds, (Based on the current track) but heaviest will be inland and the slow motion of the storm will weaken it rather quickly before arriving in our area. Still, power outages are possible from Monday through Wednesday.
Update Sat PM: – Local weather experts seem confident that The Bay Area will see little impact but a
s always, things can change. Please keep an eye on your TV for updates through the week-end and into next week.

Although Dorian may not have a major impact on The Bay Area it is always wise to be prepared. If you have not done so already please check out our Hurricane Preparedness page

Herbicide Spraying

As you should by now be aware (Summer Newsletter) general spraying of weed killer around trees and bushes has been stopped.
Unfortunately, the persistent complaints of ONE owner, who maintained his pet was poisoned by weed killer (which has been used in this community without incident for over 20 years) lead to facing additional costs when spraying was done (by a Contractor) with additional flagging and notifications required. This is (your) money which The HOA felt could be better spent.

This does mean that areas around trees and bushes will become overgrown with weeds.

However, The HOA has decided that weed killer will be sprayed around the pool areas so that these areas do not become overgrown and remain an attractive area in the community.

Spraying of Spectracide weed killer will take place during the last week of each month and will be done by our own maintenance staff. As with any of these types of product they are deemed safe for pets when dry. The exact day will be dependent on weather conditions.

We have not noticed many (if any) dog owners who take their pets up into the bush areas around each pool but you should be aware these areas are best avoided and there are plenty of common areas for dog walks. The grass will not be sprayed.
